PLANNING AND
PROPOSING PROJECTS
The Department of Entomophagous Insects and
Ecological Principles of Biocontrol, Institute of Zoology of National Ukrainian
Academy of Sciences is interested to develop the
collaborative research projects on such subjects:
1. Research of the biodiversity of
parasitic and predaceous insects of the main pests of a fruit and walnut crops
and practical application of different IPM- and biological control programmes
in a fruit orchards.

2. Research of the opportunities of biological
control of pests of tomatoes and cucumbers at the greenhouses. Project
co-ordinators: Zerova M.D., Nikitenko G.N.
3. Research of the taxonomy and potentials of the parasitoids of pests of leguminous crops (pea, phaseolus, etc.) and
umbelliferous crops (carrots, ets.) as the biological
control agents. Project co-ordinator: Fursov
V.N.
4. Research of the complex of pests and their parasitoids of a woody plants
(Pistacea, Pinus, etc.) in the arid zones of Europe. Project co-ordinators:
Zerova M.D., Seryogina L.Ya.
5. The complex of entomophagous insects
(Hymenoptera) trophically connected with
phytophagous insects of woody and shrubbery plants (Pistacea, Ephedra,
etc.) in the arid zones of Western Palaearctic regions. Project co-ordinators:
Zerova M.D., Seryogina L.Ya., Fursov V.N.
6. The research of gall-forming insects
on the European species of oaks (Quercus spp.) and the complex of their
parasitoids. Project co-ordinators: Zerova M.D., Djakonchuk L.A.
7. The taxonomic revision of Trichogrammatidae and Mymaridae parasitoids
(Hymenoptera, Chalcidoidea) as economically important biocontrol agents of leaf-hoppers being dangerous
agricultural pests in the Western Palaearctic region. Project co-ordinator:

8. The taxonomical revision of egg- and larvae
parasitoids (Hymenoptera) as economically important biological control
agents of the seed-feeding beetles
(Coleoptera, Bruchidae) - serious agricultural pests
in the Palaearctic region. Project co-ordinator: Fursov V.N.
9. Research of systematics, biology and ecology of some genera of Trichogrammatidae (Hymenoptera) for
the purposes of the selection of most effective species as biological control agents of economically important
lepidopterans pests of some agricultural crops in Europe. Project co-ordinator:

Research of opportunities of practical
application of IPM and biocontrol programmes in a fruit orchards of Ukraine.
Experimental field stations (apple, pear, cherry orchards, vineyards) are: Kiev
region, Kharkov region (East of Ukraine), Crimea and Odessa region (South and

Development of computerized
database of beneficial arthropods of major pests of fruit orchards of
Ukraine on the basis of fundamental research of species diversity of
entomophagous animals (parasitic Hymenoptera, predators, oth.). Project

12.Egg-parasitoids (Scelionidae, Trichogrammatidae, Mymaridae) of pests of grain

14.Study of pests and beneficial insects on legume crops in Ukraine.
