BALTIC-PONTIC STUDIES

    The B-PS series is an emanation of cooperation of scientific centers in Poland and the Ukraine, centered around the Team of Studies of the History of borderland of the Eastern Institute- Department of Prehistory of Poland and the Institute of Prehistory of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan and the Institute of Archaeology of National Academy of Sciences of the Ukraine in Kiev. All publications- in English.

    Volume 2.

    Nomadism and Pastoralism in the Circle of Baltic-Pontic Early Agrarian Communities 5000-1650 B.C.

    This volume takes up the controversial problems of the early agrarian stage of "pastoral cultures".It contains the contribution of authors who are united in their conviction of the need to analyze the"classical" interpretation,which is of a monolinear, very dynamic development of the East European Pastoralism and its Central European(or-to use a wider term- West European) manifeststions.The volume does not exhaust all the necessary aspects of the discussion.


    Volume 3.

    Cemeteries of the Sofievka-Type: 2950-2750 BC.

    This is the first full publication of the Early Bronze Age cemeteries with cremation graves, excavated on Dneeper in 1947-1953 by Ukrainian archaeologists. In the second part of volume- articles,devoted to the analyzis and interpretation of the funerary customs, archaeological finds(pottery,flint,metallworks, weapons,glass, etc.) and new C-14 dates.


    Volume 4.

    Eastern Exodus of the Globular Amphora people: 2950-2350 BC.

    Globular Amphorae culture settlements make one of the most important systems of circulation of cultural patterns in the border zone between the drainage areas of the Baltic and Black Sea. One aspect of this problem, namely the eastern exodus, mentioned in the title , has seemingly rich historiography. This issie anticipates a broader syntthesising presentation be published in the not too distant future.
